Typing out text from a picture is slow, and it invites mistakes. The OffSecPath Image to Text Converter solves this with optical character recognition (OCR). It reads the words in a screenshot, photo, or scanned page, then turns them into text you can edit, copy, and search. As a result, you can extract text from an image, convert a JPG or PNG to text, or copy text from a screenshot in seconds. You need no signup and no software.

Everything runs inside your browser. Because your pictures never leave your device, the tool suits receipts, notes, ID photos, and private screenshots. Even so, the first run still downloads the OCR engine and the language data.

  1. First, choose the language in the image. Pick a combined option such as English + Nepali if the picture mixes both.
  2. Next, drop one or more images into the upload area, click to browse, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  3. Then wait for the progress bar to finish, because each image gets its own result card.
  4. Finally, fix any small mistakes in the text box and press Copy or Download. Use Copy All or Download All if you want one combined text file.

How Image to Text (OCR) Works

Optical character recognition turns the pixels of a picture into characters that a computer understands. The process has four main stages.

  1. Preparation: First, the tool converts the image to grayscale, enlarges small images, and boosts the contrast so letters stand out.
  2. Layout analysis: Next, the engine finds blocks of text and splits them into lines and words.
  3. Character recognition: Then a trained language model predicts the most likely characters for each word. It uses the language you selected to choose between similar shapes.
  4. Output: Finally, the engine assembles the characters into plain text and adds a confidence score that shows how sure it is.

Tips for More Accurate Results

  • Select the right language, because the engine reads each script more accurately when it knows what to expect.
  • Choose a sharp, straight image. Blur, tilt, and shadows all reduce accuracy, so shoot directly above the page.
  • Keep the enhance option on for screenshots with small text. However, turn it off for clean, large, high-resolution scans.
  • Crop out clutter. Logos and patterned backgrounds can confuse the reader, so try our Image Cropper first.
  • Prefer printed text. OCR works best on typed text, while handwriting and decorative fonts remain much harder.

Why Use a Browser-Based OCR Tool

  • You can start immediately, because there is no signup and no watermark.
  • No daily limits apply, so you can convert as many images as you like.

  • Translate text in a photo by extracting it first, then pasting it into a translator.
  • Save quotes and data from slides, posters, and signs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this image to text converter free?

Yes. It costs nothing, and it needs no signup, watermark, or daily limit.

How do I copy text from a picture?

First, upload the picture or paste a screenshot. Then wait for the progress bar to finish and press Copy on the result. You can also edit the text before copying, and the same steps work on a phone, tablet, or computer.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your browser processes every image locally, so nothing reaches our servers. However, the first run downloads the OCR engine and the language data.

Which languages are supported?

English, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Turkish. In addition, you can choose English with Nepali or English with Hindi when an image mixes both.

Can it convert a Nepali image to text?

Yes. Choose Nepali, or English with Nepali, before you add your image. Nepali uses the Devanagari script, so clear, high-resolution images with standard printed fonts give the best results.

Why is some of the extracted text wrong?

OCR depends on image quality. Low resolution, blur, shadows, unusual fonts, and busy backgrounds all cause mistakes. Therefore, try a sharper image, pick the correct language, and keep the enhance option on. Then fix any remaining errors in the text box.

Can it read handwriting?

The tool targets printed or typed text. Very neat handwriting may work in part, but the results are usually unreliable.

Can I convert a PDF to text with this tool?

Not directly. However, you can export the PDF pages as images and upload those instead. Our PDF tools can help with that preparation.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit. However, very large photos can run slowly or fail on phones with little memory. If that happens, shrink the image with the free Image Resizer first, then try again.

Does it keep the original formatting?

The tool returns plain text with line breaks. It does not keep fonts, colors, tables, or exact layout, so you may need to reformat headings or columns after copying.
